About the Watches Tab

Open the Watches tab by clicking on it.

From any page you can return to the Watches main tab by clicking on the tab.

The four links on this page take you to views where you can create watches and work with existing watches.

Click on the My Watches link to create, view and modify your watches
Click on the Add Bulk Watches link to set up watches for many items.
Click on the Import Watches Manager link to import watches you’ve set up in eBay
Click on My Watches Folders link to view and organize all of your folders containing searches
Click on Create Folder link to create a new folder to store searches in.

Creating and Saving a new Watch

There are three ways to create and save a new watch.

  • convert a search result into a watch
  • enter an eBay item number manually
  • use the Watch now feature from an eBay item listing

Converting Search Result into Watches

Select the item(s) you want to watch from a search results page by checking the box on the far left of the item listing.

Click the watch button on the action bar at the top of the search results page.

You will see a page confirmation verifying that the items have been added to your watch list. 

Entering an eBay item # Manually

From the My Watches page click the Add Items to MyWatches button.

Type or paste the item # you want to watch in the eBay item # text box on the Add Watch dialog, and fill in any optional information you would like to include.  (fields with a * in the title are optional)

Press the Watch this Item button. If the item number is valid, a page confirmation should appear verifying that a new watch has been added.

Using the Watch Now feature to create a new watch

You can use the Watch Now button, which must be installed into your browser, to add a watch while viewing an item listing on eBay. For more information about Watch Now, click here.

Viewing your Watches

The list of items displayed depends on selections made in the Show Watches toolbar.

Based on the eBay auction Item #, the following information is displayed for each watched item in the list:

  • Thumbnail picture
  • Item title
  • Item number
  • Seller
  • Quantity Available in the auction
  • number of Bids on the auction
  • Current Price (incl currency type)
  • latest Bid Amount
  • date the auction Ends
  • Folder the watch item is saved in

Selecting the Watches you view

 The watches you see when you first open MyWatches is based on the default folder, view and items per page choices you made in My Account Default Preferences.

You can change the Folder of watches you are viewing by clicking on another folder in the In Folder drop down list in the Show Watches toolbar. The folder you see by default when you first open My Watches is set in My Account Default Preferences.

Using the All, Won, Lost, Ended, Today and Active links in the Show Watches toolbar you can view a subset of the watches in that folder based on status or date.  The group you see by default when you first open My Watches is set in My Account Default Preferences. Watches will be saved in a specified Watches Folder beyond the End time, or even if you won the item.

Use the Items Per Page drop down list to change the number of items on a page (and therefore the scale of the thumbnails and text). The default setting is the one you chose in Preferences on My Account.

Sorting the list of your watched items

Click on the column label in the row of column headings to sort your list based on those values.

 A caret mark will appear next to the heading on which the sort is based. If the caret points up, the highest values appear at the top. If it points down, the highest values will appear at the bottom.

Selecting multiple watches for an action
To select all of the bids in the list for a toolbar action, click on the Select All check box on the left side of the column header.

To select one or more specific watches for an action, click the checkbox on the left side of the bid (next to the thumbnail).

Action Bar tools
The Items Action Bar toolbar appears at the bottom of the list. The buttons here will perform actions on one or more items in the list that you have selected.

Deleting Watched Items

To cancel a particular watched item or items, select the item(s) by checking their checkbox(es), then click on the Delete button in the Items Action Bar.

You can also cancel a specific watched item in the list, by clicking on the Delete link in the right hand Actions column for that item.

Modifying watches

To modify a particular watched item or items, select the item(s) by checking their checkbox(es), then click on the Edit button in the Items Action Bar.

You can also modify a specific watched item in the list, by clicking on the Edit link in the right hand Actions column for that item.

Moving Watched Items between Folders

One or more watched items can be moved from one existing folder to another.
First select the watched item(s) by clicking on the checkbox next to the thrumbnail.
Then highlight the folder in the drop down list in the Action Bar.
Then click on the Move To button in the Action Bar.

Bidding on your Watched Items

You can bid on one or more watched items by marking their checkbox for selection.
Then click on the Place Bid button in the Items Action Bar to bring up an Bid on an eBay Item screen.
Copy the Item # into the box.
Type the monetary value of your bid in the box labeled Max Bid Enter the number of items you are bidding on in the box labeled Quantity if the auction is for multiple items.
Select a Folder to place the bid in from the drop down list of your folders.
Enter a Comment in the box. This can be left blank.
Click on the Place This Bid button to submit the bid.

Setting Up Bulk Watches

Click on the Add Bulk Watches link on the Watches tab
Copy eBay item #’s into the Add Multiple Watches text box

  • Only one item # per line.
  • You have the option to include a bid specifics with the item # using a comma separated format:
         ITEM#, max bid value, quantity, comment.

Click on a previously created folder in the drop down list to place the group of items in Click on the Add Watches button to place all of the items in the Watches folder, close the Add Multiple Watches screen and return to the main Watches tab

Importing your current eBay Watches

When you first access your Buying Manager account, all of the watches currently associated with your eBay User ID will display. Later, if you have created new watches directly on eBay since you last imported your watches into Buying Manager, these new items will display.

Above and beneath the list are two buttons: Import Items and Refresh List

You can use the Refresh List button at any time to display eBay watches that have not yet been imported to Buying Manager.

Select the bid items by clicking on the checkbox next to the Item #.

For each bid, select an existing folder from the Folder drop down list.

You can also add a comment to each bid by typing into the Comments text box.

Then click on the Import Items button to import the bids into your Buying Manager view.

Using the Watch Now! Feature
